The More You Know
Today we are discussing sin. It’s a very big subject, so we will break it into parts. This time we will be talking about about the prevalent construct around sin in Christianity: Original Sin.
Now, this theory about sin comes to us from Saint Paul and church fathers, like Augustine, Cyprian, and Irenaeus and it remains the prevailing theory in both Protestant and Catholic churches. Original Sin, in theory, is hereditary sin. The idea is that the disobedience of our prehistoric parents in the garden of Eden have caused us all to inherit their inclination to doing wrong. Every human being, at birth, bears the curse laid by Adam and Eve by breaking harmony with God.
